The Victorian Era and how it influenced the people of the time
The Victorian era of Great Britain was generally considered to be between 1837 and 1901. This was the time that Queen Victoria was on the thrown and the time she ruled the Nation.
Under the reign of Queen Victoria the British enjoyed a period of apparent affluence and times, in a monetary sense, were good. This was due to a variety of factors such as Industrialisation and wealth gained by the growth of the British Empire.
This enabled the Victorians to have more decadence in their lives. They could have more materialistic items in their lives. Beautiful furniture, nicer housing and superb adornments.
Jewelry adorned the bodies of men and women and with new designers and techniques, jewelry and its standards would be revolutionised. The latter part of the Victorian era yielded the most interesting and ornate works.
The era generally was a great period of change, modernisation and revolution. The Victorian era was an exiting time to live in with variety and inspiration around every corner. The modernisation of manufacturing techniques was bringing products now previously available to the general market. Now the middle classes could afford a more wide range of products.
The Victorians could afford to take a lot more pride in themselves, homes and surroundings and frequently did so. Home styling and jewelry were all the rage and styles were created that are still used and replicated to this very day… Where would we be without the Victorian era?
